Grom of the Week: Liam Murray

Name: Liam Julian Murray

Age: 15 years old

Instagram: @lliammurrayy

Hometown: San Clemente, CA

School: San Clemente High School

Support: My family and the Colapinto's.  I wouldn't be anywhere without all of their support.

Local Break: Lowers Rights

Nickname: My parents call me LJ and the Colapinto's have been calling me Lido, they seem to like it.

Magic Board: Mayhem Carbon Wrap. That board works insane in small waves and it is really fast.

 What gets you stoked?

I love the feeling of getting up really early and surfing with my friends.

Who is in your Tribe?

Crosby Colapinto @crosbycola, Kade Matson @kadematson, Jet Schilling @jettschilling, David Deconomos @daviddeconomos and Taj Linblad @tajlinbald.

What do you do when you are not surfing all day?

When I am not surfing or at school, I like to moto my dirtbike in the back hills of San Clemente. I have an 85 and when my brother is in town we like to go out and rip some trails.

What moves are you working on this week?

Right now I am working on getting as low as possible to set me up for a good bottom turn.  A good bottom turn is key seeing it sets you up for a solid move off the top.

What is your favorite thing about the ocean?

Pretty much the waves. Just seeing the waves makes me want to paddle out. The people in the water stoke me out too seeing you can surf with anyone on any given day.

Early morning offshore or Afternoon Glass-off?

Earlier the better.  I like early morning sessions and I try to be the first one out in the line up with my friends so we can own it. It feels good to be the first out in the morning.

Dream Trip?

It would be an Indo boat trip with all of my friends.  The Mentawais look so fun and I think all of those waves are amazing.  I want to surf that one right-hander with the trees in the background because it looks perfect.

Post surf Grinds?

Bagel Shack.  Cinnamon Crunch bagel toasted with butter.

I love surrounding myself with good people to make myself the best surfer in the water. I grew up with the Colapinto family and seeing Griffen surf so well inspires me.  I hope I will be at that level one day traveling the world surfing with my friends.
