How do you stay so stoked? Its all about being in the right positive mindset and surfing everyday.
Who is in your Tribe? (@krewply) (@ryanmmccormick) (@therealosogrande) (@mareabajadesigns) (@altheapoopypants) (@kailifalk) (@seabenjah)
Three words that describe you? Frothing, stoked, but also mellow haha.
What do you do when you are not surfing all day? I skate, i’m into drawing, listening to a lot of music and hanging out with my friends.
What is a Grom? A super stoked surfer who’s usually not an adult.
What moves are you working on this week? Well, i’m always working on everything like going faster and being more powerful, but this past week i’ve focused more on trying different stuff while in the air like different grabs
and rotating or maybe tweaking it.
What do you love most about your family? How supportive they have been about me moving to California and
their positive influence and kindness.
What was it like growing up surfing in South Carolina? For surfing it’s pretty rough, because i’m lucky if the waves ever get as big as knee high. There’s also no surf scene there, but besides surfing it’s actually a really
nice place and I love how it’s a lot less crowded and developed than California.
What skills has the B.W.R.A.G. course provided you to be more prepared? Way too much to list, but mainly CPR, water safety with jet skis, surfboard rescues, mindful breathing to prepare for breath holds and a
bunch more safety precautions and plans.
How has taking the B.W.R.A.G. given you more confidence? It’s funny how even surfing at small trestles I feel so much more prepared for any accident I happen to come across. I could step in and help save somebody
with confidence that I am doing it correctly. I also know now that i could use a jet ski properly for safety in big waves and i’m confident I can hold my breath after getting held down by a huge set.
How does the ocean give you a positive mind set? I can't even explain how, but it just seems like being in the ocean lets me forget about everything but surfing and that makes me happy. I love it mainly for surfing, but also swimming or getting on a boat or snorkeling, it seems like being in the ocean just makes people happy and it’s fun.
What is style to you? Style is everything, haha. In surfing it’s all about how you ride your board and if you lookcomfortable and effortless so you don’t have weird movements. Good style has to be unique to you and still has
little parts that are drawn from all of your inspirations. I think style is really important and it’s also cool how artists and musicians also have unique styles which are also like a combination of their inspirations that they
put their own unique twist on.
What is your favorite thing about the ocean? There’s so many things I love, but I guess my favorite would be the
feeling and fun that I get from being in it and riding waves.
Early morning offshore or Afternoon glass off? Paddle out during the morning offshores, surf all day, take a lunch break and then paddle out and surf the afternoon glass off. I really love the morning offshores because the morning is more peaceful and light offshores create the most perfect waves but the afternoon glass off is also so fun so its best to surf all day haha.
Dream Trip? My dream trip would be to get a plane and
have the captain fly all over the world and we just would stop at like every surf spot and then keep going and fly to the next spot. I would bring like 5 of my friends on the plane and I would meet up with a bunch of people at the spots. I would surf with Mason Ho in Hawaii and then go shred with the Gudauskas brothers in So Cal. haha this trips kinda unrealistic, but it would be SO SICK!!!
Post surf Grinds? Anything that fuels me up to go surf again. (and if there’s Cholula on it that’s even better)
Inspirations in or out of the water? I draw inspiration from as many surfers as i can but i’m really inspired by guys like Mason Ho, Dane G, Mikey February, Sebastian Zeitz… because they’re all really creative. The you have insane surfers like Occy, Andy Irons, Joel Parkinson, John John, Kelly Slater, Griffin Colapinto… really there’s way too many to mention. My friend Andy has been a really big inspiration on how to live a good surf life and to have style. Music and art also gets me really inspired.
Where do you want to be in 2024? In the barrel!
Wave Pools or the Ocean? I’ve never surfed a pool, but I would still say the ocean is 100 times better.
How do you Keep the Vibe Alive? Always try and look at the positive!! Surf a ton and always try to be nice and
Who is your favorite Gudauskas brother? I can’t answer this. haha!
